Promoted by Património Cultural, I.P. and funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) through the European Union (NextGenerationEU), the intervention aimed to improve the conditions of use and enjoyment of the monument’s spaces. The contract, awarded to AOF – Conservação e Restauro do Património, had an execution period of 605 days and an investment of 1.5 million euros.

Welcoming more than 400,000 visitors a year, the Paço dos Duques required rigorous planning and meticulous site management. The main challenge was ensuring that technological modernisation and improved accessibility could coexist in harmony with the preservation of, and respect for, its historic heritage.

Throughout the works, the Pórtico team monitored the site continuously, ensuring compliance with the design, deadlines and on-site safety requirements in a building of great heritage value that remained open to the public.

The completion of this intervention strengthens Pórtico’s experience in construction supervision and safety coordination for heritage conservation, restoration and rehabilitation works, as well as its commitment to the highest standards of safety and technical excellence.
