Renovation and extension of the “Casa do Capitão” building in Lisbon
The renovation and extension works on a building intended as a cultural facility, known as “Casa do Capitão”, located in the Hub Criativo do Beato / Manutenção Militar – South Wing (Building D), Rua do Grilo, 119, 1950-144 Lisbon, with access via Rua do Grilo no. 119, in the municipality of Lisbon.
The intervention area covers 538 m2. The set of interventions consists of:
– Creation of a new basement within the building footprint (except for the area occupied by the underground galleries, which will not be altered) and also in the open plot at the rear;
– Extensive interior alteration of the two floors of the existing building;
– Vertical extension of the building with a new floor within a pitched roof volume with irregular slopes;
– New outdoor landscaping at the rear, including stairs, accessible ramps and a shading structure.
The programme defined by the Project Owner (Casa do Capitão – Programação Cultural, Lda) consists of a cultural facility that includes a concert and multi-event hall, a bar-restaurant with a bookshop area, recording studios and offices, as well as a series of outdoor spaces adjoining the rear of the building.
